LOADING... I did spend half of my childhood swapping various obsolete magnetic data storage media to obtain dopamine kick while killing aliens and listening to a chirping, repetitive melodies all day long. Later on my vintage samplers took these floppies also. I am rather familiar with the object, its associated aesthetics and cultural connotations. At some point I had hundreds of 3.5" disks laying around, before that also many 5.25", so when the proposal came to release my music this way there was no second thought. Now the history turns full circle and the influence of 8 bit games' music on my taste may be even more pronounced than I have ever imagined. Also the very first music creation software I tried were so-called "trackers" that allowed constant modification of sound parameters in a very low-level, hexadecimal fashion - a geeky concept of modulation was planted in my mind quite early on. Hence 'Gamification' is a modern homage to my tiny self, and possible score to our hyper-competitive, everyday existence with its constant, judgemental scrutiny we impose on ourselves, scarce power-packs and ever-diminishing resources along the way, with only a single life to reach GAME OVER.
